Every lesson starts on a launch monitor. Every change gets checked against real numbers — carry, dispersion, strokes gained. You leave knowing exactly what moved and why.
About the Founder
Founder & Coach
I started Pilot School of Golf on one belief: in golf, improvement should be measured, not guessed.
Too many lessons end with a vague feel and no proof anything changed. I wanted to build the opposite — a place where you see exactly what your ball is doing, you know the number you're trying to move, and you can watch it move. No one-size-fits-all swing template. No sales pitch. Just a clear plan and the data to back it.
I've been playing golf since I could walk — my mom likes to say my first toy was a cut-off golf club. I tried to make a go of it as a player and realized that wasn't sustainable, so I went to Texas A&M for degrees in engineering and mathematics. That took me to Houston, where I built and ran an engineering and consulting firm for years. When it sold, it gave me the chance to go back to my first love — golf.
I started as the second assistant at Bay Oaks Country Club, and I'm enjoying my new office immensely.
I'm a PGA Apprentice, working through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program — the certification path for PGA of America membership. It's built on instruction, player development, and running a golf operation to a professional standard, and it's the backbone of how I coach and how this facility is run.
What you'll get from me is straightforward. Every lesson starts on a launch monitor. Every change gets checked against real numbers — carry, dispersion, strokes gained. And you'll always know what we're working on and why. That's the Pilot Method, and it's how I'd want to be taught.
Framework
Measured improvement, in a deliberate sequence. The Pilot Method teaches in order — mental approach first, then mechanics, then course management — with every stage measured on a launch monitor.
A repeatable pre-shot routine, attention and arousal control, and the fundamentals of grip, posture, and alignment. We take a baseline launch-monitor assessment and define your strokes-gained gaps before changing anything.
Full-swing and short-game mechanics tied directly to measured ball flight, using motor-learning principles — like varied, game-like practice — that make change actually stick instead of fading by the next round.
Smarter decisions, targets, and risk based on your real dispersion — not a tour player's. We use the strokes-gained framework to decide where your next practice hour is best spent.
How we measure progress
Every student starts with a baseline and gets periodic re-tests on the launch monitor. We review progress against carry, dispersion, and strokes-gained gaps — so improvement is something you can see on the screen, not just take on faith.
What we stand behind
Progress tracked against the World Handicap System.
Practice prioritized with the Strokes Gained framework developed by Mark Broadie.
Junior movement screening and strength work follow TPI and NSCA youth / long-term athletic development guidance.
Where swing technique comes down to coaching judgment rather than a formal standard, we say so.
